Connecting Power, Water & Waste to Your Portable Cabin

One of the best things about hiring a portable cabin from Wheely Cabins is the "plug-and-play" nature of the installation. We designed our cabins to be easily connected to existing services at your property without needing complex construction work.

Power Connection

Each cabin comes fully wired with a safety switch and circuit breakers. Connecting to power is as simple as plugging in an extension lead.

Important: 15 Amp Power Required

The cabin requires a 15 amp power supply (the large earth pin). Standard household power points are only 10 amp.

You will need to supply your own 15 amp extension leads. The cabin has two inlet plugs:

  • Inlet 1: Powers the Air Conditioner.
  • Inlet 2: Powers the lights, power points, and hot water system.

Ideally, you should have a 15 amp outlet installed by an electrician at your main switchboard or on the exterior of your house. Alternatively, 10-to-15 amp adaptors (like the Ampfibian) are available, but they have limitations on how much load they can pull.

Water Connection

Connecting water is incredibly simple. The cabin features a standard hose inlet point.

  • Simply connect a garden hose from your house tap to the cabin inlet.
  • For better taste and hygiene, we recommend using a drinking water hose (food grade) rather than a standard garden hose, which can leave a rubbery taste. These are available at Bunnings or camping stores.

Waste & Greywater

The cabin comes with a waste outlet pipe. You connect a waste hose from this outlet directly into your existing sewer inspection point (IO) or septic tank access point.

We generally set up the cabin within a reasonable distance of these services to make connection easy. If your sewer point is uphill or very far away, you may require a macerator pump (Saniflo system), which we can discuss during your initial enquiry.

Gas (Cooking & Hot Water)

Our cabins use 25L electric hot water systems, so no gas connection is required for water.

For cooking, the cabins can be equipped with electric portable cooktops, or you can use your own appliances. This keeps the setup completely electric and simple.
